The Steller Sea Lion is a large marine mammal found in the waters surrounding Race Rocks, a small group of islands off the coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. These sea lions are the largest members of the Otariidae family, and males can grow up to 3 meters in length and weigh up to 1,100 kg. Steller Sea Lions are known for their distinctive roar, which can be heard from up to 30 km away. They are also known for their impressive hunting skills, as they are able to dive up to 300 meters deep to catch fish and squid. Race Rocks is an important breeding ground for Steller Sea Lions, as well as other marine mammals such as Harbor Seals and California Sea Lions.
