I wrote four Scripts (WSH - Windows Script Host) to simplify downloading of Preview-Thumbnails (400x300 Pix) and Wide Posters (2000x1333 Pix) from the old Webshots Site. The Only thing you need, is to double click one of the four files to generate a text list (used by Download Accelerators like FLASHGET) or a directly html-list with linked image-URLs. You can download the package from ORON or from Rapidshare.

The Scripts are in VB Script and works only with Windows 98 and higher !

First you must run WEBSHOTSWIDESCREENPOSTERLISTGENERATOR.VBS under Windows (98, XP, 2000 or 7). The Script generates a file called "WebshotsWideScreenPosterList.htm" in the same directory (folder). This HTML-File you can use now as A Linkfile with all the valid links. Simply click and the valid files will be opened in a new tab-window on FF. I also can write a script which opens all image files directly, but this need some computer ressources depending on the number of files to be opened - here: 25.

Please tell me your efforts and success !

American Greetings (imgag) does took over some of the old Webshots images and gave them a new ID (Old Webshots: 5 digits; imgag: 7 digits). You can experience the new number when you do the following:
Enter in FireFox`s adress line the following URL "http://www.webshots.com/g/g/g/59228.html" and you will receive a redirection to "http://www.webshots.com/pro/photo/3159280" with a website and the message with the dog picture "Webshots is temporarily down for maintenance". So you know that the old picture-ID 52998 has become the new Picture ID 3159280. But there's no website for this ID available. You can check the equalness of the pictures by typing the URLsSo you see some sample pictures (Previews) in different resolutions.

By typing in 58893 you will get the Repeat from yesterday (3159223). You see, not all Wallpapers have a new subpage, but most of them have a new Number.

63028 will become 3159979, try it......

I"m not interesting in ID. How is it old or new. For me mainly real name of picture. For example. After downloading poster obtain pic-name:

Real name can see after open wbz-file in photo manager:

But I haven"t wbz-file. I use your script and receive JPEG pic (2000x1333).
So I ask a qwestion how I"ll know picture name without it"s according wbz?

Hi Hippo,
It's hard to give "REAL NAMES" to the Wallpapers, you must google a lot and sometimes you only found "dead links". But I have a database from old Wallpapers before IMGAG take over, perhaps I can help you. So give me the numbers... The three mentioned pics you'll found in March Archive Photos. from January 1999 to December 3, 2001 you can read the real names of that daily pics.

PLease tell me the numbers in which you are interested, perhaps I may help you.

Regards

attached you see an example for a dead link...
